Google Announced VR180 for YouTube


Google has recently announced a new form of experiencing VR videos on YouTube, VR180.

According to the company's blog, by letting creators film 180 degree VR content, it allows the viewer to focus on what's infront of them. Anyone who wants to view this new type of VR content can by Google Daydream, Cardboard, and from the YouTube app itself. Since the company is still invested in VR, YouTube will still support 360 degree content.

In order to create 180 degree content, you need a camera that can film 180 degree video. The Google Daydream team has partnered up with manufacturers to create cameras that were especially built for VR180. They've been working with four manufacturers Lenovo, LG, YI, and Z CAM (which is going to be the first VR180 certified camera. If creators who are able to enter one of many YouTube Spaces around the world wants to try VR180 can borrow a enabled one.
