Review of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus

It’s that time of year again when Apple releases their next generation iPhone, but this year it’s different. Apple decided to release three iPhones, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, and the iPhone X (to commemorate the ten year anniversary of the iPhone, it’s coming out in November). On Friday September 23rd the iPhone 8 was released and it’s nothing too much to be excited about.

The iPhone’s design language hasn’t changed for the last three years and Apple didn’t change it, well maybe a little. From the front it looks like the last three generations of the iPhone but it changes when you look at the other side. Apple decided to finally join the collection of phones with a glass back and I couldn’t be any happier. When you pick up the device it feels a bit heavier than it’s predecessors but feels more premium like the Galaxy S8. With the glass back
brings both wireless charging and no more antenna lines but with all the positives must equal a negative at some point and that it’s more fragile. Apple tried to reassure customers that it has the “most durable glass” but we’re going to have to wait and see on that.

Apple introduced the new Retina HD display with true tone technology and it’s beautiful. This new display technology offers a higher contrast to whatever is displayed but it’s still not 2K amoled display. The 8 rocks a 1334 x 750P LCD display while the 8 Plus still rocks a 1920 X 1080P LCD display.

The camera on these device still produce the same photos that everyone loves from the iPhone. For the 8 Plus they offer portrait lighting to give a more dramatic and professional look to your photos and for slo-mo video playback, you can finally shoot at 60fps.

Is it worth to upgrade from an iPhone 7? Not really. If you do want to upgrade, I recommend waiting for the new iPhone X coming out later this year. If you have something like a iPhone 6 or 6S or if this your first iPhone, then it’s a perfect upgrade if you don’t want the $999 iPhone X.
