Alexa is now on the HTC U11

The HTC U11 originally only had Google Assistant it as it’s primary voice assistant, but now, the tables have turned. When HTC launched their 2017 flagship device earlier this year, they also announced that it would be on of the first phones with Amazon’s Alexa on it, and it would be added to the device later this year. The time has officially came, and Alexa is on a phone.

The way HTC implemented Alexa onto the U11 is actually cool because the device has sensitive sides, meaning you can squeeze the phone and you can do certain actions like long squeeze will turn on the flashlight etc. You can launch Alexa like every other Amazon Echo device just by saying the wake word, but you can also squeeze the phone to launch it since the home button is reserved for Google Assistant.

Alexa on the U11 is just like the one on Amazon Echo devices, you can control smarthome devices, ask it questions, and enable skills. The only things you can’t do are setting alarms and listening to music. You also can’t control your device since Alexa is not tied to your software, so you can’t make calls or send texts.

This starts a new topic when it comes to Amazon’s Alexa, is it going to be added to more devices? Will it be available to download in the App Store or Google Play? Will it compete with Google’s Assistant or Samsung’s Bixby?
