The Watch That Could Compete with the Apple Watch and Android Wear

The Ticwatch 2 could be the perfect smartwatch, but sadly, it's not. Before we talk about everything that's wrong with the watch, lets talk about some of the positives. But first, some history.

The Ticwatch is actually a watch that ended up successful on Kickstarter and even backed up by Google, but doesn't run Android Wear. The Ticwatch 2 runs an OS called Ticwatch OS and brings the best of both of the two biggest smartwatch platforms, Android Wear and Watch OS (Apple Watch). It has what almost every smartwatch has, a voice assistant, different watchfaces, and support for third-party apps. But the main sales point for the Ticwatch is "tickle".

The Ticwatch has a touch sensitive strip on the side of the device to swipe through the interface keeping your finger out of the way. But with all of the positives, what are some negatives?

The library of apps that's available is limited and I can see why. The Ticwatch uses a third-party app store that you have to download on an Android device and if you have an iPhone, you are just out of luck. Also the voice assistant is limited, it does well with commands like calling and texting, but searching the web is not its strong point.

One of the biggest reasons why it's not a perfect smartwatch is that it's not running Android Wear or Watch OS. Being the two biggest platforms, a watch running an OS that nobody has ever heard of could affect sales.
